Charlies Angels Funds
Charlies Angels playgroup funds are raised via the weekly fee of $3 per family and occasional fundraising activities.
Use of the School Hall, Canteen and Grounds
We are fortunate to have rent-free access to a large hall, the area outside the hall, store room with shelving, canteen, playground with sandpit, space in storage shed for ride-on toys and access to sandpit toys. In return the school has asked us to ensure we:
- Charlies Angels playgroup has been established democratically (committee members are elected at an annual general meeting) as per Playgroup NSW guidelines.
- Our session runs from 9.30-11.30am on Wednesdays. Our session fee is $3 per family to cover the running costs.
- Visitors are required to join Playgroups NSW prior to their third visit. This is for insurance coverage when in attendance at playgroup and is a requirement of hiring the school hall.
- We encourage parents and carers to bring a healthy morning tea for their children, and a drink bottle. Tea, hot chocolate and coffee are supplied. Carers are welcome to bring a cake for their child’s birthday.
- The playgroup secretary will roster willing carers to provide a craft or special activity for the children.
Session coordination and assistance
- Our session coordinator arrives early each week to set up playgroup and often provides craft activities.
- Members are encouraged to assist by tidying up after craft or morning tea and packing up the shed and storeroom at the end of each session.
Basic flow of each playgroup session
- At the beginning of each session, the children are encouraged to participate in craft and/or play dough play on tables inside the hall.
- Around 10am/10:30am, we give the children morning tea, and parents/carers are welcome to a tea or coffee. It is appreciated if members are able to assist with setting up and washing up the parent/carers morning tea on occasion depending on the supervisory needs of their child/ren.
- From around 11am, members and the children are encouraged to assist in packing up equipment. This includes returning outdoor toys and ride-ons to the outside shed, and packing the toys and tables away in the hall storeroom.
- Children are encouraged to sit together inside the hall between 11.15 and 11.30, for stories and songs.
Supervision
- Parents and carers are responsible for the safety and supervision of the children in their care.
- Supervision at our playgroup can be a challenge when we head outdoors to play, where we are in close proximity to the school carpark, canteen and busy roads. So please be aware of your children at all times!
- We ask all adults to keep an eye on all children around them as we have a large, unsecured area for the children to play in, and it is possible for them to stray too far in the school grounds if they are not well supervised.
- If you see a child or children behaving in an inappropriate way, please separate/divert them and inform their parents, so that they can manage the situation.
Accidents and injuries
- If your child falls or is otherwise injured while at playgroup, please ask other members for assistance – full first aid kits are available in the canteen and the school office, and a small kit is held in the hall storeroom for playgroup use only.
- If a child’s injury results from an altercation with another child, both children’s carers should be informed so that they can properly manage behaviour issues.
- If required, an incident/injury notification form is available in the Playgroup Day Book.
General communication
- At the start of each term the committee will distribute a hard-copy newsletter with information relevant to the running of the playgroup (including the roster).
- Additionally each Monday an email will be sent out to members outlining the coming session (ie coverage of tasks or activities, or a reminder to “dress-up” for a theme day, or unforseen changes to roster etc).
Charlies Angels Funds
Charlies Angels playgroup funds are raised via the weekly fee of $3 per family and occasional fundraising activities.
- The funds cover the cost of morning tea for carers, equipment, toys and consumables (craft, paint, playdough, glue etc). Small purchases are reimbursed using petty cash funds upon presentation of receipt.
- Funds are banked with an operating rule that a minimum of 2 committee members are to sign off for outgoing transactions (except for petty cash).
- All financial records are maintained, checked and reported at playgroup meetings by the treasurer and coordinator.
- All duties carried out by members for Charlies Angels Playgroup are done so on a voluntary, unpaid basis.
- Return the areas/equipment in the condition we found it
- Report any new damage, water leaks or potential hazard to the principal
- Keep the children from running around in the stage area/on the stairs
- Take all dirty nappies home with us
- Take care not to fill up the playground bins (we can dispose of rubbish to the large bins near the cricket nets)
- Put our soap dispensers back in our store room
- Clean up our morning tea supplies by 11am so the canteen volunteers can prepare to serve at recess
